This painting underneath shows the incident that happened on April 25^th 1890, when four fishermen, Salvatore Bugeja (66years) born in Bormla and lived in Zabbar, his son Agostino (22years), Angelo Delia and his son Carmelo were fishing on a four metre caique (Maltese; kajjikk). They were fishing near Mignuna Point when suddenly their boat was hit from underneath by a large fish, Salvatore and Agostino were thrown in the sea and never seen again. Angelo and Carmelo saw two fins swimming around the boat, but there was no sign of Salvatore and Agostino. When two other fishermen, Tonio Delia and his brother Felicjan, went to give their help they saw these two fins as well. Angelo and his son went to report the accident at Zabbar Police Station and made this Ex-voto (painting) so that this accident wouldn’t be forgotten.
